Chiropractors Follow 3 Doctrines: Philosophy, Science, & Art

PHILISOPHY

The philosophy of chiropractic can be brought to 4 major principles:
(1) The body is a self-regulating organism, which possesses inherent recuperative abilities.
(2) The nervous system directs all bodily functions, and therefore is requisite in the restoration and maintenance of health.
(3) Improper motion or position of vertebrae interferes with proper nerve function. This phenomenon is known as vertebral subluxation.
(4) Removal/ reduction of vertebral subluxations via chiropractic adjustments relieves/minimizes nerve irritations, and thus enhances the ability of the nervous system to promote health and healing.

Complementing Chiropractic Philosophy with Science

SCIENCE

The science of chiropractic relies on its philosophy stated above and based not on anything special to chiropractic - instead on anatomy and physiology. Chiropractors are the only profession that recognize how subluxation affects the body in a multitude of ways because of the influence of the nervous system and the only profession dedicated to reducing the subluxation and its effects.
When abnormal motion exists, degeneration over time is the result. When pain fibers are involved, pain is the result. When nerve fibers going to muscles are involved, muscle dysfunction is the result pulling upon joints thus further affecting the musculoskeletal framework and movement patterns. When nerve fibers going to organs are involved, organ dysfunction is the result and overtime disease can be the result. When nerve fibers within the spinal cord are affected, the communication from brain to body is the result affecting the global mind and body.
That’s how chiropractic has results across virtually all conditions from birth to death.

It has been shown in the research that adverse effects occurring after an adjustment to be “slim to none”.
